Answered Need help, client site gets messed up when adding links or images.

    I really need some help, a client of mine has been using a MODX Evo site for over 1,5 years now without problems. Recently I get a call that weird things are happening...

    Each time anybody edits a page and add a image or link stuff like this gets added:
    <a href="\"undefined/\"">studieboeken per vak</a>

    and all page content is messed up like this:
    <a href="\"undefined/\"">studieboeken per vak</a></p>
</blockquote>
<h2>CURSUSBOEKEN & ZELFSTUDIEPAKKETTEN</h2>
<p>voor de administratieve opleidingen BKB/BKC/PDB en PDL
 en voor de startend ondernemer in het mkb (POM)
<a href="\"\\"undefined/\\"\"">cursussen</a> <a href="\"\\"undefined/\\"\"">zelfstudie</a></p>

    Image links end up looking like this:
    <img width="\"\\"70\\"\"" height="\"\\"29\\"\"" alt="\"\\"\\"\"" src="\"\\"assets/images/logos/NOI_logo_licht_blauw_70x29.png\\"\"">


    The client has gotten this error:
    << MODX Parse Error >>
MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
<< Execution of a query to the database failed - Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes >>


    I did a update to latest version of Evolution, but the problem is still there.

    Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be? I already contacted the hosting company, they have no issues or errors in the logs. I did not see any weird code in the .htaccess nor did I find any error logs (where are these in Evo btw?)

      About the first question:
      It must be magic_quotes there are turned on in the php.ini file - try to disable it with:
      magic_quotes = off
        - A small step for mankind, so why not take two...

        Working with web production, graphic design/workflow, photo and education - but are trying to get a life in between!

        Hello,

        It's going to be magic_quotes, but use tips-scripts.com/php_ini to generate the php.ini file vs just the single line. Ideally get it turned off server wide. You will need to edit out the extra \\\ saved.

          Thank you! magic_quotes was the problem, my hosting provider turned it off and the problem is fixed.
