Sorry if this is answered. I used the search feature, and have been at it for about three hours now. Mostly getting info on how to make a custom 404 page (i know how to do that).

I'll try to keep this as short as possible:

My boss, is wanting to phase out our server admin, and move all our in-house servers to Itech's Server Farm. I've never setup/installed MODX, nor has the Itech person who has been assigned to do the actual work.

I was informed that the setup was done. sql, php, apache, etc. all running, and modx installed. I can get into the manager just fine. Make pages all day long. Great.

However, whenever I attempt to browse to any of those pages, or preview them from within modx, a 404 error is returned.

Indeed, the default "Congratulations you made a web page" test page for redhat is showing rather than my defined start page.

So. Any ideas on the culprit?

See if there's an index.html page in the site root. If so, rename it.

I'll bet there is. Don't have direct/remote access to the server anymore, so this may take a while (such a bad move, I'm going to miss having the server admin in-house).

        Will follow-up.

        Thanks Bob.

So, the iTech person directed me to browse directly to mypage.com/index.php and that does display the home page (aliased as "home").

Yet mypage.com still leads to the redhat test page, and mypage.com/home.html does not correctly transport me to the hope page, all other pages list a 404.

            Ok things are moving along.

The homepage now shows when browsing to mypage.com, but all other pages return 404.

Do you have Friendly URLs turned on? If so that can cause a problem if the .htaccess file isn't setup (see ht.access).

I do have friendly urls turned on, and I'm trying to learn about ht.access.

                Thanks guys.

I want to have a fancy [SOLVED] in my title, so I'll update. Again, I'm now dependent on another person to actually apply the changes.
