Components menu not showing in Manager

I'm working locally on a MAMP installation of MODx, and I think I'm snagging on some sort of permissions errors: the "Components" menu does not show up in the manager. I've installed several packages (e.g. Rowboat), but the menu items are completely AWOL.

Installing Quip made the menu item show up... but shouldn't other packages be showing up in the Components menu?

Any ideas of how to check or remedy this? Thanks!

Only Extras that have CMP's would show up on the Components menu.
