Either something is off with the Properties tab or the UI is not friendly or I am missing something. Here's what I did:
1. Click on a plugin on the left, e.g. DirectResize
2. Click on the Properties tab
3. I am told that the Default Properties are Locked.
4. I then select a property set I previously saved, from the drop down list. This loads up my settings.
5. At this point I cannot click on Save at the top, so I click on Save Property Set, then the Save button becomes active (then I click it).
6. Then I click on DirectResize again to reload the plugin info on the page, go back to the Properties tab and I see that the Default properies are loaded there, not from my property set!
I did not realise this was happening as I was constantly changing values, thinking that it was saving, then complaining that the DirectResize plugin was not working.
The only work around is to edit the default properties, which the instructions at the top of the Properties page suggests not to do.
Does anyone else experience the above?

Changing values in your property set will never change the default properties -- they're two separate sets of properties.
You need to go to the System Events tab of the plugin, and next to each System Event the plugin listens to, specify your property set in the fourth column (double-click on that column).
Then the plugin will use your property set rather than the default properties (though it will still use any default properties that you didn't override in your property set).
Ok thanks...I hear you...but it should be much more user friendly. Folks are not likely to mess with the System Events tab to change a setting.
It does trip some people up, but there's really no other way to organize it that I can think of. For most elements, you can specify your property set and override default properties in the tag, but since plugins don't have a tag, it has to be done when editing the plugin.
It can't really go on the main panel, because some plugins listen for multiple system events and you might want to use different property sets for different events -- so it has to be on the Sytem Events panel, which has to list all system events.
