I’m using TinyMCE in conjunction with NewsPublisher to post new articles to my blog. The problem arises out of TinyMCE’s insistence on escaping apostrophes with ' It appears that when the modx core encounters ' it simply drops that string. I can provide some examples:

http://www.grunzke.com/30 accepts input similar to NewsPublisher and simply calls print_r($_POST); It’s easy to verify that any apostrophes in the textareas (summary and content) are simply dropped.

Now check http://www.grunzke.com/tinymce.php - it’s exactly the same code, referencing the same javascript for TinyMCE, only the page is not in the modx environment. Posting a test string and checking the HTML source verifies that TinyMCE is escaping ’ with '

I’ve tried setting the encoding for TinyMCE to raw (as you can see in the source) but it insists on escaping ’s. What do I need to do to get modx to not drop ' from any text input?

I checked http://demo.opensourcecms.com/modx/ and it has the same problem - after creating a web user I made a test post to the blog, and apostrophes were stripped from the post. I can’t verify that it’s the escaped string that’s causing the problem on the test site, but the end result is the same, which is sufficient evidence to convince me that it’s the same problem.

We are having this exact same problem. Apostrophes don’t show up when using NewsPublisher to post articles.

        <a href="http://www.feverish.net/modx/blog.html">Here is an example</a>

I haven’t found any solutions via posts, and it doesn’t appear to be mismatched character encodings... We are really at a loss here. Any help?
