I'm running;

MODx 2.1.3-pl
login-1.7.0-rc2
Apache/2.2.20 (Ubuntu) | PHP v5.3.6-13ubuntu3.2 | MySQL v5.1.58

Previously it was working without fault but now when I try to login in /manager I'm getting: action_err_nfs

I've tried clearing the browser cache off FireFox v7.0.1 and Chromium 14.0.835.202 (Developer Build 103287 Linux) Ubuntu 11.10 which does then display the manager login page but as soon as I then try to login I'm back to action_err_nfs.

I also have noticed that the Login snippet isn't displaying on my index page (not the manager) as well.

FYI, I've figured it out.

I deleted the contents of /core/cache reloaded the /manager page and it worked. I do remember that the machine froze will in the middle of working so my guess MODx didn't finish saving.

What do you mean by deleting the contents of cache? All the subfolders? Is that safe?

Yes, you can safely delete all files, folders, and subfolders in the core/cache/ directory. MODX will create fresh versions of them. If you have a corrupted cache file, it's sometimes the only way to fix it.
