As I mentioned a couple of months ago, MODx Manager is unbearable slow on most/all of my projects. Most, but not all problems are related to the resource manager and extJS performance.
Because I have failed to notice a serious outrage regarding manager performance in the community, I suppose that the problem is related to some server or a client side issues..
Specs:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm running Ubuntu, winXPsp3, Windows 7 with all major browsers (up-to-date). I don't see any problems related to firewall/antivirus software.
All sites I'm managing are running at the same place/hoster but on different servers.
The problem doesn't seem to be related to server load. Pings look good and it doesn't matter if I'm working on a development or live page.
It's anoying, regardless if I have 5 or 500 documents. The number of contexts or the complexity of the document tree is also not an issue. Things are always slow.
No, I'm not exaggerating. I had to fix some things yesterday on a fairly complex Evo page hosted at the same hoster. I was amazed how fast I had created 10 documents and uploaded a couple of images. Sure, less eye-candy, but the overall workflow was MUCH better.
My hosting environment:
Reseller Account in a shared hosting environment.
PHP 5.2.17
Zen-Engine 220, Memory Manager enabled
MySQL 5.0.92
zip enabled
Memory Limit 64M
My MODX Error Logs are clean
I have tried to switch on/off js/css compression in manager. Reset session, logged off and on. No noticeable result
So, why am i writing this?
First I would like to know f there are some secret tricks to speed up things that I don't know of.
Do you know of any server or client side problems that can be tracked down?
Also, I really would like to see a MODx Revo Backend that's really fast. This would raise my spirits considerably.
If all my problems are related to some server side performance problems that I have failed to notice and my hoster wont be willling to fix them, I'll switch over to another one without thinking twice. I love MODx and I'm prepared to do whats necessary to have a happy relationship with my cms lady of choice.
Kind regards,
pepebe
