For your info - I was experiencing a number of strange problems, such as not being able to get FCKEditor or TinyMCE to select and place images into documents, (and their selection windows were locked at some small size) and other problems (weird css behavior) while using the MODx manager inside FireFox, that I now realize were caused by a corrupted FF installation.
This morning I opened FF and it hung and nothing would cause it to exit, not even using "end process" in the windows task manager. I had to force a hard reboot to get rid of it. After that it would not start. I then reinstalled FF 2.0.0.3 but still had the same problems. So I first saved my bookmarks with Mozbackup, and then totaly wiped all FF folders from the drive (including the ones in C:/documents and settings/"yourname"/application data/mozilla/firefox ) downloaded a new copy of FF 2.0.0.3 and did a clean install. Now MODx and FCKEditor are working as they should, I can insert image with the editors and the image properties windows can be resized, etc. So if you use FF as the base for your MODx manager and you are having odd problems, the trouble may lie with the FF installation.

That’s really interesting and a helpful pointer for when things go horribly awry. Thanks Hal. smiley

Ryan: I got that problem solved only to bump into another one that ate up more time. My attempts to up load images were frustrated by an unhelpful error message that gave me no hint where the problem was "Error:File failed to upload" DUH! I figured that out myself. I thought permissions were the problem but in the end it was that the upgrade to MODx 0.96-rc1 did not automatically update the paths in the configuration like I thought it would.
        All working ok now.
        Cheers,
