Hi,
This is quite strange for me. I did a general google search and on the forum too but haven’t found the same problem which means I am probabaly doing something wrong. Please be patient if this sounds like a newbie error. I wanted to test modx and so installed xampp 1.6.0a and tried both modx 0.95 and rc1 0.96 with the same results. I am already running wordpress 2.1 and drupal-5.1 on this version of xampp without issue.
In Firefox after the database connection is tested and passed and you fill in the admin/password, in the next screen ’optional items’ after clicking ’next’ , I get a window prompt for ’password change’ with ’admin’ in it, this happens in the following screen too where everything is ’checked’, whether I click ’ok’ or ’cancel’ in the prompt window, the installation continues and seems to install perfectly. I can see the modx site in Firefox but cannot login to the manager’s page. I try to enter the admin/password multiple times and it keeps giving an error ’The password is not correct’. Now if I do the same install procedure all over again in IE 6.0 everything works perfectly, I don’t get the ’password change prompt window’ during install and can log into manager’s page and continue as normal.
I am using windows XP SP2. Any help to resolve this will be appreciated and please be tolerant if this is because of something stupid on my part.
Thanks
Raul
"get a window prompt for ’password change’ with ’admin’ in it" This is firefox asking you to change its stored password. Try temporarily unchecking the save passwords and forms options in the firefox preferences and see if that fixes things.

Very odd, I’m running xampp1.6.0a on XP Media Center Edition 2005 and XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 and don’t have a problem with Firefox 2.0.0.3 (which just came across on auto-updates yesterday), and don’t recall any similar problems with it on 2.0.0.2.
Try just adding http://localhost to your list of exceptions for the Firefox password manager to avoid that whole rigmarole, and see if that gets you past the problem.
Thanks for the suggestions. This is clearly odd, I just redid the installation this time after removing all the saved passwords and making an exception for localhost and I don’t get the prompt anymore, however I still can’t login to manager with my username/password which I set. If I start up IE and put the same username/password it works in a jiffy. Is there any setting in firefox which would interfere in the manager login in modx?
Ok, this is totally my fault, thanks a ton for your patience! I just cleared cookies in firefox and it worked like a charm. I am really sorry for wasting this forums time. Please accept my apologies.
Thanks
Raul
