Hello. I've been trying to install MODX 1.0.5 Evolution locally via MAMP Pro and keep getting the same database alerts in spite of the fact that I fixed the initial problem.
MODX is still using the TYPE=MyISAM syntax in this version. I changed all instances of it to ENGINE=MyISAM and this installs successfully on my online hosting server. I've cleared all history and cache in Firefox, tried it in Safari, and upgraded to MAMP Pro 2.0.3. I still get the same error messages and failure to create lots of tables. Most of the alerts begin with:
"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Type=MyISAM".
Can anyone suggest something I've overlooked?
Thanks
Wow. I can see why the other forum post I studied had such strange words. There's something about this forum that changes anything resembling MySQL syntax. As it should!
To correct: "I changed all the "Type" equals "My ISAM" instances to "ENGINE" equals..."

That is the solution; however in the setup.sql file it is sometimes TYPE and sometimes Type, when doing a search-replace you have to look for both variations and change them to ENGINE. It took me a few tries before I caught on.
Thank you! That did the trick for most of the database errors. I'm using BBEdit for multi-file search, but it didn't pick up a half a dozen "TYPE"s. Found them by searching for the unique comments per the error messages. Now I finally have a local sandbox. Thanks, again.
