phpThumb on Revo with custom ttf font

Is it possible with the phptumb integration in revo to use custom fonts as you can do with the stand alone version of phpthumb?

I was testing this out by placing a ttf font on:

/home/****/core/model/phpthumb/fonts

I then tried to request the font using phpthumbof but it keeps using the default system font.

Am I missing something or is this not possible?

I thought it was since I read it here:

Don't know if you managed to fix this already, but it works fine when I put my ttf in a folder "fonts" in the root level of my MODx install.

I'll try that out, tx for the tip.
