For some reason, I cannot got to the Manage Files. When I click on it I get this:

    Directory listing for:/

    Access denied!

I even tried deleting the database and the modx install and starting over, and that did not help. There was nothing in here yet as I had just made this install for a new site and was about to get started on it. I had been able to log in and view the Manage Files earlier today. Any thoughts?

      What version of MODX?

You might ask your hosting service if anything has changed on the server.

First thing that comes to mind is the Security system, but that's set to certain defaults on install and if you did a complete re-install that seems to be rules out...

        Anything in the error log?

Nothing in the error log. I had just added that domain to my site5 hosting account, which now has 4 domains in there. All three of the others are fine, it's just this one that is giving me that message. Uninstalled modx and even deleted and re-installed the mysql database. I haven't tried logging in since the other day, about to try again. I am using the latest version of Evolution hosted on Site5's HostPro+Turbo plan. No error messages ever showed on the install. Site5 back end shows the file directly just fine. Any more thoughts?

Check the configuration.. may have faulty paths in there.

On the Interface tab there's a "Path to files" setting, and there's another one on the Other tab.

Still having issues... So I have the HostPro+ Turbo account with Site5 which allows me to use unlimited domains which each have their own control panel backend and their own databases. The first site I put in there works just fine with Evolution. The second site I put it works just fine, but I installed Revolution just to play with it. The file manager in there works. The next 2 sites have Evolution installed and with both of those I cannot access the file manager in Modx. I get the same error message that I put up in my original post. I check file paths and they are all correct. They are the same format that I have with the site that does allow me in to the directory. Any more thoughts at this point?

Beyond deleting all files in the core/cache directory and clearing your browser cache and cookies, I don't have any ideas. You've probably tried that already.

If you used FTP to transfer the files, you may be getting file corruption in the transfer. It happens more often than you might think, though it doesn't really fit your symptoms all that well.

I'm going to agree with Mark, it sounds like the paths are wrong.

Do you have each site under a different SiteAdmin login, or are they all sharing the same login?

File paths are correct. Here are two examples. First one is for the first site I put in to Site5 and file directory is working just fine. Second one is the one that is not working:

                    /home/avalonje/public_html/modx-1.0.5/
                    /home/timberme/public_html/modx-1.0.5/

I have four domains under my site5 account. One of them has Revolution installed and the file directory appears to be working. So I have to installs of Evo that would allow me to access the file directory. The Modx folder was unzipped on my desktop then I used FileZilla to transfer the unzipped folder. I suppose I will delete everything and try uploading the zipped folder thru Site5's file manager system and see if it was indeed corrupts files. While I am at it I will re-download modx. Each domain has their own mysql database and each have their own control panel. They all share the same ip though. If there is anything else I can elaborate on let me know! I'd like to get this solved!!! Thanks for the replies so far.

One other thing you might check is to make sure you do not have a .htaccess file in the /manager/ folder and/or that you are not setting any rules in the site root that would deny access to the /manager/ folder.

I've not recieved that error though sometime depending on server config not adding the trailing "/" after the manager in the URI has caused redirects (etc.).

                      cheers
