I am trying to set this up without any luck. Can anybody shed some light on what I'm supposed to do?
I see that I have to edit a user, click on the user tab, and enter in some paths. However, if I enter the full server path, or just a relative path, nothing works. The file manager just shows an empty directory and gives me an error if I try and upload anything. What am I doing wrong?
OK it's a bit convoluted and this is only for evo but this worked for me:
1. create a users folder in your normal images folder we'll use 'nameofmyusersfolder' for illustration
2. inside that folder create an images folder (and any other upload folders you'll need, so files, media etc)
3. go to security > manager users > user
in the 'file manager path' enter the full root setting to your user specific folder eg
/home/mysitename/public_html/assets/images/nameofmyusersfolder/
(you can copy this from the configuration tab) and don't forget the trailing /
4. copy the same thing that you've just put in the 'file manager path' into the 'file base path' field
5. copy the last bit (ie from assets/...) into the 'File Browser URL' so in our example
assets/images/nameofmyusersfolder/
6. log in as your manager user and test
