    Hi,

Im building my first modx site, and a section of it showcases various projects, but i cant get all the pieces to fit together. Rather than spending another hour looking, I thought Id ask.

I am making a "project template" that includes a listing of all the projects. This listing also functions as a submenu, and can be sorted by some variables like type, date and location. When a new project is added by the client, it gets added to the list.

So far I understand that wayfinder and TVs can help me with this?

The template will also includes a thumbnail menu unique to each project page, which change the displayed picture. I want the number of pictures in this menu to be optional.

How can make such a solution?

You'll definitely want some TVs, but I think you'll be using getResources rather then Wayfinder to do the showcase.

Wayfinder is mainly for site-navigation menus and won't display the TVs you need. getResources is designed to do exactly what you want, if I'm understanding you. It will pull the content, summary, pagetitle, etc. and any TVs you specify, and in the Tpl chunk it uses, you can make any of them links.

ModX being a new city for me, I had gotten lost, and was wandering around in the Wayfinder neighborhood looking for something that was really in the getResources part of town. Thanks for telling me which station to get off at! Just the type of info I needed!!

So today I have been creating some test documents with some relevant TVs, installed the getResources snippet, and the last couple of hours I have been working through a tutorial at codingpad.maryspad.com.

But now I've hit a dead-end alley it seems.

I have tried to extract the TV's by entering the following in my test resources template:

              [[!getResources? &includeTVs=`1` &processTVs=`1` &showHidden=`1`
              ]]

But chosing view this call does not seem to produce anything (visually nor in the parsed code).

I have a feeling I missed an important turn somewhere.

              Hello
Did you have a look at http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/getResources (#Examples) I'm pretty sure it should answer your questions, and give you a large view of what you can do (or not) with getResources
              Cheers

After a short time at that rtfm area, I got the snippet to output arrays. So I am back on track.

                  Lessons learned:
                  - rtfm an extra time
                  - try more parameters before capitulating to support

                  Thanks guys
