Would it be possible to just disable the messageQuit-function in
    document.parser.class.inc.php

and just redirect the user to another static Error-503 page, or maybe use some other variable to output an customized error?
Or would this break something else?

I also read some solution here also seems to do what I’m thinking - disable the messageQuit-function.

What do you guys have to say? smiley

In 0.9.7, which is in alpha testing within the development team, you will be able to provide your own error handling class. In addition, the loop condition within messageQuit itself which seems to be at the root of the too many forward attempts problem with the template switcher, has been addressed.

In the meantime, feel free to "hack" the messageQuit function and/or the sendForward function to avoid the problem...

We have modx powering a high traffic adult site - visitors to the site, view a substantial volume of high res images, access hundreds of content pages, and use several dozen types of contact forms. The site takes 90,000 hits a day, it’s hosted on a shared server plan over at hostgator. It eats on average, 19gb in bandwidth each month.
Is 19 GB considered a lot? That makes me feel pretty good about some of our sites, then. We have two that consistently do 25-35 GB in traffic per month, and neither has ever had a hiccough related to MODx.

I’d say 19GB is a high average traffic, above 30GB is high (bravo ! by the way).

One thing you also have to keep in mind when comparing how MODx perform is your server environnement : not only processor, hard drives but also PHP, MySQL versions and how well your server is administrated...
