The recent introduction of media sources in MODX dev is a great move IMO. It will really help to manage access to files on both local and remote sources.

However, one thing is missing: static resources don't use media sources which is a gap in this new approach. I think media sources should be available to assign to static resources similarly as they are assigned to TVs. The same should probably apply to templates, which may be used with static resources.

I think of a resource property similar to, say, [tt]class_key[/tt], where a media source for a static resource could be selected. It's quite important to do it this way, as it allows to use FC rules to decide on which media source should be used by which static resources. Exactly as it does with TVs.

What you think of it MODX team? [ed. note: gadamiak last edited this post 12 years, 7 months ago.]

    • The work of integrating both static Resources and the upcoming static Elements with Media Sources is in progress and will be pushed to the repository this week (possibly early next).

Great to hear that it wasn't overlooked but just not implemented yet. Thanks!
