    After using "It's all Text!" for a while, i am still looking for a better "source editor" solution. Now i have these questions:

    Is there an eclipse plugin which connects with MODX elements?
    I did some research and think it's possible to create one. Just not sure if Revo 2.2 kills my efforts?

    All answers/ideas/comments on this matter are welcome.

      "It's All text" will let you use any editor you have installed.

      You might also look at the CodeMirror extra.

        Thank BobRay, but CodeMirror isnt solve my problem.

        Let me rephrase my Question another way:
        Is there a way to connect an IDE to the MODX MySQL database, then i can edit files in an IDE, like they are on a file system?

          I don't know if that functionality is built into Eclipse, but I doubt it. I think you would have to write some custom code to do it.

          What you're describing would have nothing to do with MODX, since MODX wouldn't even need to be running. It would depend entirely on the editor.

          For snippets and plugins, BTW, you can have the code in files and use something like this for the snippet or plugin code:

          return include "path/to/file"

          Then you could use any editor to edit the files.

            Thanks again BobRay.

            The "include statements" will partially solve my problem. The code must still be replaced in production due to the performance?. Perhaps exaggerated, but I like the handiwork minimized.

            I have to write the eclipse plugin myself. I'm just wondering if this functionality already exists, and that the effort was not for nothing when Revo 2.2. launches.

              I doubt if it's been done. Most of the developers use JetBrains' PhpStorm now, though I'm sure an Eclipse plugin (or a NetBeans plugin) would be very welcome.
