Dear Modx Community,
I've been a heavy user of Modx almost since day 1, a colleague pointed it out to me back when I was still using PHPNuke. It was very challenging and took more than 1 attempt to fully understand what the modx concept (as a framework) was about but I eventually understood it and from there on I've tried endlessly to be a better professional by standing by such principles.
No, I'm not high, I'm talking about actually building websites and not setting them up in "boxed" solutions (*cough ... wordpress, cough*). I fell in love with modx when I realized how easy it was to fully integrate my beautiful HTML code (yes I code beautiful HTML code) into templates, and then construct with simple directives the way my website was meant to work.
I continued to be amazed by how efficient it was to build more than just websites by clever usage of template variables and awesome plugins such as phX or wayfinder to name two popular ones. As I grew older using modx for my own websites and clients, I realized I was actually building kick ass applications and websites that broke the mold. Beautifully crafted, perfectly coded and easy to administer because of the incredibly powerful manager that comes with Modx.
I was very used to Evolution, to a point where I was fighting myself over giving Revo a try. My first 7 attempts failed. I kept having issues with passwords, or scripts not working, or the interface being buggy and all. And every time I hit a little bump I would just roll back and go back to Evo, because it was easier.
For about 1 year now that Revo has been out and about I've avoided it. Until recently, because I refused to give up.
For two weeks I've been working on a project, a very important project and all I can say about REVO is OMG. Seriously, REVO is incredibly powerful. The built in functionality, modifiers, lexicons, the security, the user administration, the contexts, OMG guys, seriously. This is without a doubt NEXT GENERATION stuff. The things that I have been able to accomplish with the default setup using built in tools is simply amazing, without messing up my code. Without using a bunch of weird javascript or hacks. All perfectly setup with the usage of built in tools and options provided in the core of the system.
And this is all in just two weeks of playing around with it, I'm sure there is a lot more I have not yet uncovered. This really makes me feel like I am building a website and not formatting a website around another application. I love how I can configure the application to suit precisely what each website is about without HACKING ANY OF THE CORE CODE. It amazes me how anyone could even attempt to use anything else other than modx.
Anyways, I genuinely felt just now that I needed to post this and say a BIG THANK YOU to all who are involved in the modx project. All the developers, the community and just about everyone, specially those who have donated to the project.
Modx is truly a work of art, so far ahead of everything else I honestly doubt it could even be compared to anything else out there.
I am forever in debt with everyone involved for Modx and its philosophy has made me a better professional, has inspired me to do things the right way and motivates me to continue doing things better, give back to the community and support fellow users in whichever way possible.
