Wish: A word count box for the editor

This is a small thing, but I'd really like to see a running-total word count box available for the Content field on resources, preferably independent of any WYSIWYG editor. Wordpress has such a feature, and it makes it easy to see when you're hitting your target length for an article or going on too long.

there is http://modx.com/extras/package/charcountertv, which counts and limits the chars in a textarea or textbox

Cool - that serves another purpose in which I was interested, that of limited the number of characters in a box.

But character count isn't really the same thing as word count.

These two have a button that give you the current count:

http://www.mediacollege.com/internet/javascript/text/count-words.html

Here's one that provides a running total:

Thanks, Bob - but again, that's not quite exactly the same thing. If I wanted to use an external program, I'd just do up the text in WriteMonkey or OpenOffice, either of which will provide a word count. I'm strictly taling about something integrated into the manager here - like Wordpress.

I was assuming that you'd integrate that js code into the MODX Manager or a front-end editor like NewsPublisher.

What, me do work? I'm only here to make wishes
