Just noticed this on a new MODx Revo site: all my generated links on some pages of my site are going to the site's numbric IP address rather than using the domain name. I.e.
    <a href="[[~34]]">Click here</a>
    ...
... goes to http://200.10.33.145/otherpage, rather than to http://mysite.com/otherpage

Oddly, the behviour seems random. It will happen on one page but not on another, even where they share the same tempale and the links are generated in the template. This makes no sense.

Except for the randomness, this looks like it could be a switch in the "System settings", but I can't see anything there. Does anyone have any ideas on how this happens and how it can be changed?

OK, problem solved: It's a caching issue, probably from the 24 hours before the site's domain name had fully propagated.

I am leaving this here as:

      • a note to anyone else who encounters this problem; and
      • a reminder to myself and others that trying to rigorously state your problem sometimes not only gives you the first step to solving it, but actually provides the solution.
