The Book (finally)

@Cipa to my knowledge there's going to be a digital version will have to wait and see when it's available though.

Shipping is expensive outside the US. It's 7 in the US, 14 Canada and Mexico and 16 to the rest of the world. We worked extremely hard to provide the least expensive shipping possible. This included actually resizing the book dimensions to make it fit into USPS Priority Envelopes and reduce page count to cut the weight.

The book is still 3.314lbs (over 1.5 inches thick) and is 772 pages. If you consider the pre-order price of $49 and add the shipping, the book price is $63 which for a book of this size is pretty good. Never mind the heft, the book is downright awesome. Unlike the Packt books etc. this is Bob's book that was tech edited by Shaun and others.

Anyone that buys MODX: The Official Guide will receive a huge discount on the electronic edition (not pdf but .mobi or epub) The electronic edition will also be available as a standalone. In the future we'll also look at retail but it's likely the price would have to climb in order to offset the cost share with the retailers.

On the electronic edition, Michael "piker" Hickey is working on the formatting and we'll announce details and formats soon.

@Jay Awesome very interested in the e-book version so i can read it on my iPad since thats easier to carry than the actual book LOL

If the Powers That Be are watching these forums - you really need to be promoting the Bob Book on the front of the site:

• Having a book on your CMS - especially a good one, which it is clear Bob's will be - is an important selling point or people thinking of adopting a partiicular CMS.
• Documentation has sometimes been claimed as one of MODx's weak points
• Bob has contributed 10,000 posts to the community

Any news on when the book is shipping? I bought it nearly 2 months ago...
