Hi
I am building a site for someone who wants one of their pages to be their latest stocklist. I am wondering what is the best way to do this so they can add to this stocklist themselves from the quickedit snippet. They have no webskills. The way the stocklist will show on the page is there will be 4 columns horizontally across the page. In column 1 is the name of the product , column 2 is the description of the product, column three is an image of the product and column 4 is the price of the product. This will continue down the page with each product. I would ideally like when they log in to the frontend the stocklist will have an quickedit tag beside each bit of info so there will be an edit tag beside the first product title, an edit tag beside the description, image and price and so on down the page for each product.
I don’t have a problem getting the first products columns across the page. I have just created a tv with 4 divs beside each other on the page and
the title in one div, description in another div, image in third div and price in 4th div. They can edit each of these from the quickedit. How do i go about letting the user add another 4 columns for their next product and as many others as they want.
Am i going about this all wrong? Is there an easier way of doing this?
Would really appreciate some help. Need to finish this soonish. Thanks
you could make the products as separate docs and use ditto to list them. Ditto can output quickedit tags for each item. The have anothes snippet that just duplicates the last doc for example to create new ones.

Hi Doze,
Thanks for your reply. Sounds like a good solution. Can you explain a little bit more how I would go about doing this ? I am quite new to modx. Am I correct in thinking that I would create a tv called [*categories*] for the template of the 4 divs across the page. I would then create say I new page and call it say productlist1. I would then place my ditto call in the latest stock page .
Will this productlist1 document just be a blank template. How do make up this page so each category will be placed in the correct div.
What ditto call could be used.
Could another way of doing it be like having an input page(say id 50) only visible when the adminstrator is logged in to front end. On this page there would be 4 fields or inputs which would be insert product title, Insert product description, insert product image, insert price and maybe an submit button. When user clicks update button this would create a new document. I could then have ditto list these pages on the latest stock page.
Not really how I would do this or create the input page or how I get the the content to format correctly into the categories
Your help would be really appreciated. Thanks again
Rob
What I mean is that you do a template for the product documents and then TV’s to that template for product name, description, image and price. Then you create the products as documents under certain container with that template and use Ditto to list the documents. In Ditto, you can make it output quickedit links for the documents, ask in Ditto forums how it works, I haven’t tried it yet..
