[solved] site_start not working

I set site_start to a holding page resource while I developed other pages.

When I finished the other pages I changed site_start to one of them.

It didn't work, it kept showing the original holding page.

I cleared the cache in Revo and in the browser (tried other browsers too) . Still got the original holding page.

I DELETED the holding page, cleared all the caches, still got served the original holding page!

Tried setting site_start to other pages & clearing caches still got the original holding page.

(The error page and un authorized page are separate resources)

The original holding page no longer exists but I'm still getting it served up despite 3 hours of cache clearing and site_start changing.

I am absolutely baffled!

I've spent hours trying to do something that should take seconds, any suggestions gratefully appreciated.

I'm using Revo 2.0.8pl
PHP 5.2.14
Mysql 5.0.91-community

The reason was that I had an index.html version of the holding page in the root. Doh!

When I deleted that everything worked fine.
