I've been trying to migrate some content from an Evo install to Revo using Provisioner 1.0.0 but I'm having some problems. It will start just fine and will get all of the resources from the Evo site but only a few snippets, chunks, and TVs. I let it run for quite some time yesterday but it just kept running without any progress. Is there anything I could do or try to get this to work?

I'm not sure if this would be detrimental to Provisioner but my site is rather large (2000+ resources) and uses a good number of special characters.

Thanks in advance for your help!

      HI,

Provisioner keeps an import log in /assets/components/provisioner/tmp, have a look at this to see how far its getting, also in the remote evo site if you look at the event log you'll see that the incoming download requests are logged as they come in, using these you should be able to see what the hold up is.

        That's good to know!

I checked the Provisioner log and the event log. The event log shows that RevoGateway requested the chunks and the Provisioner log says:
        08:29:39 : >>>>Getting chunks .........

        08:29:39 : Got 136 chunks

None of these chunks show up in the Revo manager. It's behaving the same way toward snippets, too. From the log it looks like it should be done importing...but in the manager there are pieces missing and the status bar never stops. Any tips on anything else I could try? What's the time gap between the start of the log and the last line above?

Here's a PasteBin of my log with time stamps (I've stripped out the list of individual resources/chunks/etc for the sake of readability): http://pastebin.com/NPA1eEr9

              Hi,

Looking at the log its stopping in the same place both times, at about 104 secs elapsed time. I think your running out of execution time in your backend, i.e your PHP max execution time is being exceeded. This is usually defaulted to 30 seconds. On the evo import page Provisioner has box to allow you to try and override this(import time period), this tries to override the default setting which will work on some servers and not others, adjust it and see if it makes a difference.

The reason you see the looping is that the backend has stopped so the frontend never gets a response from it and just sits there forever.

This is just an effect of the amount of data being imported.

You should also be able to see an error reported in your webserver error log for this, look for 'execution time' or 'exceeded'

Ah, I see now. Thank you!

I tried increasing the max execution time on the import page but it sadly didn't have any effect—but I think I know what to do now.

                Thanks again for your help!

Turns out that increasing the max execution time for the server didn't do the trick either—it's still stalling in the same spot.

I think I might just resort to manually moving my snippets and chunks. At least it imported all of my pages!

                    Hi,

Did you check your server logs? It would be good to know what if anything is being logged here as a pointer to what's happening.

I wonder if mod_security might be the culprit, since resources import with no trouble and it chokes on saving stuff with code in it to the DB.
