    Hello developers,

I moved my site from one domain to another which has many sub domains. manager and main homepage is working fine but no subdomain is working. it says "Server not found" and in error log it says "7995` was requested but no alias was located." when i see in manager resource is there.

can anyone tell me what all things i need to check / what all things are there which can affect this ? [ed. note: amitpatil last edited this post 14 years, 2 months ago.]

Did you look into your config.core.php file I think it is to ensure the paths were okay? I am not 100% positive but I do remember I had to tweak a config file to get mine working. I am not at the right location to look - (at work so blocked) but when I get home I could check it out.

Try renaming .htaccess to ht.access and turn Friendly URLs off in the Manager. If that fixes it, it's most likely a problem with your .htaccess file (most likely the rewrite base line).

I rarely get good results running on IP addresses, but that's cause the host sets some open_basedir restrictions if not accessing via the domainname.

You'll probably need to check how your subdomain is set up (DNS? virtual hosts? there's many ways to do that), and if those settings match the MODX settings. Assuming you're using contexts in the subdomain there.

Like I said - my host used to restrict *a lot* before the domain propagation and I never really bothered trying to get around all that.

If there's no restrictions in place like that in your case, you can try applying this great trick to "mask" it on a domain: http://www.inspiredm.com/inoobs-the-dns-trick-every-developer-must-know/
