    Home page began throwing a parse error today (although rest of site is okay). This is an older site still running MODx 0.9.6, but it has worked fine for years, until now. Home page throws the following error at the moment:

    « MODx Parse Error »
    MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
    « PHP Parse Error »

    PHP error debug
    Error: Please contact support about failure
    Error type/ Nr.: Warning - 2
    File: /xxx/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php
    Line: 769
    Line 769 source: $snip= eval ($snippet);

    Parser timing
    MySQL: 0.0076 s (4 Requests)
    PHP: 0.0509 s
    Total: 0.0585 s

    What would cause this change to occur? And how can I make the home page visible again?

      Hello,

      I would HIGHLY recommend upgrading to 1.0.5 as there are a lot of security fixes. In regards to your current issue it sounds like your server may have been upgraded to php 5.3.x and are having comparability issues.

      What snippets do you have on your home page?

        Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, I know I should update, the site's been on auto-pilot for quite a while.

        My server is still on PHP 5.2.9, so that seems okay. And when I disabled that one offending line of code

        $snip= eval ($snippet);

        then everything else on the home page is back to normal, except for the following snippets:
        FeedX
        AjaxSearch
        Quotes
        and a Beatles widget

          Apparently one of those snippets is having an issue. I suggest uncommenting that line of code, then disabling the snippets one by one to determine the culprit.

            Yes, for some reason FeedX seems unhappy. All other snippets work fine.

            Anybody know of a good RSS snippet?

              Never mind, find updated web element code at the source (Google News). Okay now.
