Hi there,
Before i ask my questions I’d like to say I
really enjoy building sites using MODx, it continues to amaze me the more and more i use it! - Just so you know, I’d also say my skill level is average, I know XHTML as well as CSS, I’m learning PHP...
For a current project there seems to be one thing that MODx doesn’t appear to do, I’ve search the forums a lot and haven’t found what I’m looking for - Is it possible for web users to have slightly more usable and complex profiles, I rarely sign up for a blog or a social networking site a need to input my fax number, my county or my zip code, more useful fields I’d find might be ’music’, ’interests’, or ’personal website’ - I can’t seem to figure out how i can add this sort of stuff into a web user’s profile, is it possible using TVs, then calling them later into the page where and when needed? - if some kind of TV system is possible a profile page could easily be made...
Other ideas that I find would be useful, which tie-in to my questions above:
- is it possible for a web user to ’add to favourites’ a particular article, and then once they’ve logged in they can view all their favourites on one page?
- would it be possible for a web user to ’befriend’ another, and have their friends show on their profile?
- another idea I was wondering was possible, and slightly more complex idea, could a filed in a web users profile be, lets say ’points’, which adds up awarded points for doing various things around the site, such as receiving 1 point for posting a comment (using Jot or whatever), receiving 10 points for uploading something into the gallery, other users could award points (like a thumbs up/thumbs down system) on comments - then a ’points cloud’ could be generated with the user having most points displaying with their name largest...
anyway, these are a few things I want to achieve for some projects at the moment, are they already possible with MODx, or easy to create using TVs or something?
cheers,
Mallmus
