[SOLVED] Installation possible with an existing db w/o delete/rebuild them?

Hi,

I have a very difficult system where modx is installed (see topic http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,12343.0.html). The database is at an other provider. For test purposes I want to install modx on an other provider with access to the same database.

Is it possible to install a fresh system without saving/deleting/refilling the existing database? I tried it but doesn’t worked. Was I dopey to install it properly or is there no way to do it this way?

Ok, found the solution:

• downloading all files/folders from the current provider
• uploading all files/folders to the new provider/server
• additional uploading the install folder from the modx package
• modifying config.inc.php in manager/includes/ if necessary
• chmod folder rights described at installation manual in modx wiki
• running an update installation
• modifying paths in manager configuration
• deleting the install folder
• ready
