Hi all,
I’m not a server/php specialist but have massive performance problems with such a constellation:
- modx 0.9.5 rev 2106
- QuickEdit disabled, template switcher not installed, search not implemented, UltimateParent used, FCK installed but TinyMCE used
- Server at Strato AG, Germany: Apache/1.3.31 (Unix)
- PHP Version 4.4.4, SunOS, Server API: CGI
- database at hosteurope.de: Server Version: 4.0.24_Debian-10sarge2-log, MySQL 4.1.15
The problems are coincidental delays. If I edit documents and save them I sometimes must wait up to 3 minutes to get the success message. Sometimes I get a timeout with a server error 500. Then at the same document I can change something and save this and in a moment the page is saved. Also the requests on the "live" version are different in response time. Often I must wait a long time to open and close or change the document tree. All in all there are massive response time problems. And I think it must be a problem at the Strato provider (United Internet).
Has anybody an idea how I can identify wether it’s the server/provider or not? As mentioned above I’m not a geek in server and php issues. And the hotline at Strato is a helping-by-manual hotline: incompetent in technical problems.
I would be grateful for any ideas and support.
tnx, rasc
p.s. if additional information needed please ask.

Put your database and your web server at the same location and watch the problems go away. Most likely.

That’s the next I’ll try. Will report the results.
But general: are there tools/scripts that can help identifying bottlenecks?
same location helped. tnx
