server blocking access - cant save anything

My server seems to be blocking modx from saving content. Whenever I try to save a page it displays a 403 page saying forbidden and none of the changes are reflected. This happens for everything including templates. I don’t think its a database issue because modx successfully installed. If I try to save the "Home" page in the modx admin it will redirect as if saving and I will get what looks like a default forbidden access page. Any ideas?

Disable mod_security if that’s installed. Search "mod_security" for more details in the Google Search box above.

SecFilterEngine Off
to the .htaccess file to disable mod_security and it doesn’t seem to have any affect.

nevermind disabling mod_security worked, i can save the pages now. Thanks for the quick help!
