Hi Guys
I have normal hosting but I know I need a database to set up modx. (is this essential?) It looks like the minimum package is £199 per year! (100mb space) Does this sound right?
Thanks
Jonny
Yes a database is essential, and yes £199 a year is very steep!
Just for comparison, Fasthosts offer a 150MB database for £25/year (with a hosting package.) Not sure if you can purchase it separately, but in any case it would help having the database on the same network as the web server.
I’d seriously look at moving hosts if you can, or take out an additional plan for your MODx site.
You could get fairly decent hosting inclusive of a database for a little over £100 (and that’s a business-class service!)
