Hi. I’m new to MODx and am looking for a CMS that I can install once and run multiple sites.

I’d like to be able to run different sites on completely different domains, different subdomains, and just mini sites in their own virtual directory(eg http://example.com/mini-site-1 , http://example.com/mini-site-2 ) .

I’ve found a few threads on the subject:

    http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,1445.0.html
    http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,2059.0.html

Are there any new developments or are those threads still the place to look to find a way to do this?

    Thanks.

PS. MODx looks impressive. Good job, developers.

This is definitely something for the future, but is not supported today.

Would you be able to have any success using the methods in those threads that I posted? Or do we pretty much have to wait until support is built in?

what about the the mini site with virual directoreis example? I think all you’d need to be able to do that is manipulate which document is the root/parent in the menu system for a particular url. Isn’t that all you’d have to do?

ZUteX, only you can answer the question you pose regarding the methods described in those threads. If the successes others have had using them is testimonial enough for you, I’d say give it a whirl. As for official, core support for multi-sites and sub-sites, it will be available in the 0.9.7 release (release date TBD), as indicated by Ryan and within those threads. The support will be based on a new concept to be introduced in 0.9.7, called contexts.
