    Hi All,

I’m just starting to get to grips with MODX, so sorry if I’m asking silly questions.

I notice that there is a ’ticker’ widget available. Is it possible to build a clickable news ticker like the one on the BBC news site using this?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/

Could somebody post a link to an example of a site using the ticker?

    thanks in advance..

Heh heh...there are no silly questions here! wink

Yes, you can use the ticker to build something that is similar to the BBC news site...although not exactly like it. I’ve completed work on an updated mootools compatible version of the news ticker that simply takes a list of DIV’s and fades them in and out. It’ll be part of the next update to MODx.

In the meantime, you can layout the framework for this by simply creating a TV using the news ticker widget. With some clever uses of @ bindings (http://modxcms.com/data-binding.html) you can create a news ticker instance that will allow for links as part of the data fed to the news ticker. I’d post an example, but I’d need some time to play with it first. wink

        Hi Jeff,

        I’m relieved to hear it.

Thanks for the reply - at least I know it’s possible.

Time to roll up my sleeves..

          One other thing..

Is it possible to just display a list of page titles in the ticker?

Would I have to query the database to get the list of documents I wish to display?
