    I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the Newsletter snippet for over a week and it’s not getting any easier. Nobody seems to know anything about this snippet and I can’t find answers or documentation (yes I’ve searched through hundreds of pages to try and find solutions)....

    Has anyone ever got this snippet to work properly and send web doc emails?

    I can get users to subscribe (not unsubscribe but don’t really care anymore), and can also send plain text emails... but emailing webpages????

    Is this snippet abandoned?

    I really need to sort this out soon before going crazy, can someone offer another way of emailing modx web pages to people?

    Please Please...i’m desperate hugs and kisses all around huh

          @Banzai,
          Are you sending docs on any of the three?

          @dhilden
          I’ve run into an issue with newsletter where it will tell me that it’s been successful when sending a document, but then it just sends me a "1". if this is the issue your having and the only reason you want to use "doc" mode instead of "msg" mode is for archiving purposes I hacked newsletter to send the content tv of the document selected from the list. This isn’t the best solution as it limits the flexibility of the scripts output to simple rich text but it does keep the archive intact, I’m working on this to make it actually do what it implies, using the modx API instead of curl_exec().

          This seemed like a solution: Haven’t tried it myself yet.

            I send documents from both 3 site.
            Using a custom template with some contents and a ditto call for latest news.

            I have only only issue: Norton Antispam sometimes flag my mail with spam

                hey, was on vacation last week and so happy grin to see that a few people are still interested in this snippet.

                In regards to your last questions I didn’t receive a ’1’ when sending the email so it doesn’t appear to have anything to do with ’curl’. I’m trying to use newsletter to send a page of multiple news headings, and have successfully done this by changing the $url in the snippet code to a specific page address: http://.........com. (tried inserting http://www.google.com and it worked perfectly, now just trying to get it working with my site)

                The html page that shows in my email inbox shows all the headings and info (which I’m after) but when I try to click on the news heading to read the full article a blank page appears.

                Am I running around in circles, or can I email a html page and successfully look up the ditto calls(secondary pages) to the full news story? or do I have to make a 50 page email that holds all the news stories with no links?

                Thanks smiley

                  Half solution: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,2421.90.html half way down the page lies the fix in the snippet.

                  ....but I still get a plain text email with no photos or graphic design. Any Ideas?
