Best way to associate and retrieve images related to a page?

I want to be able to dynamically retrieve a folder of images with thumbnails for a page. The thumbnails will be displayed in a small table where clicking each will then display the full-size image in a div on that page. The site will ultimately have about 60 case studies with up to 10 images and accompanying thumbnails for each, so I need a dynamic way to assemble the page, as manually linking those will drive someone insane.

My first thought is to have the images in a unique folder in assets>images to make the uploading/updating process easier for the client. Is there an alternative (better?) option for storing/retrieving a group of images? Possibly a snippet or plugin that might be best suited for this? None jump out as the ’perfect’ solution.

Any other thoughts/comments are appreciated.

Why not use MaxiGallery? It allows you to have one picture gallery per page. Adding images is easy and it will display a larger version of the image when you click on it.

To upload, log into the manager then go back to the page that uses MaxiGallery. There will be an upload button to click on to start the process.
