OK I’m having real problems here.
I built a couple of sites with 0.9.5 betas and release candidates which are now about to go live. For reasons best known to the client they have to live in a different directory under a different user account. So I thought I would do an upgrade (albeit it in a different place). For the life of me I cannot get the Upgrade button to be enabled.
I tried to follow the wiki to the letter with no success so here is what I did as the simplest possible test.
as user1 tar up the old site directory
log in as user2 and untar the archive into a holding directory
untar modx-0.9.5 into ~user2/httpdocs
copy the old manager/includes/config.inc.php to manager/includes and chmod it to 777
(I do nothing else, I just want to see if I could upgrade)
I navigate to newsite/install and get the splash screen, click next, agree to the license and click next. At this point only the install button is selected, I cannot select upgrade, what do I need to do?
N.B. a feature of this upgrade is that the new site is under a different user account and in a different directory to the original. The mysql database remains as before and is still accessible by the original site.
If it makes progress I’m happy to reinstall so long as the mysql directory and my existing assets remain untouched
