Now this is annoying.
My client has two MODx sites, for deployment they need to be moved between different user accounts and directories on (so far as I can tell) the same physical server.
For simplicity I did the following in different ssh logins, as user1 tar’d the site directory into /tmp then as user2 untarred the directory into its new location. As the database existed, I did nothing about that.
I can view the new site in its new location just fine (helps to clear the cache before moving BTW), however when I try to login in as newsite/manager I get a "Failed to create database connection" error, this error is the same regardless of what username/password I use. I can log into the site manager in its original location just fine.
Now if I can view the site I must be accessing the database so I do not understand the error. The database location, name, username and password have not changed. I managed to tar the directory without errors but it is possible that untarring as a different user might have caused some permissions to change. Both of these sites are 0.9.5 release candidates.
So what is going on? How do I resolve this situation?
Please help,
Ed
