I’m interesting - can i make few document types (like news, articles, bla bla bla etc....)
And give to each document type its own TVs.
I mean that news documents have image TV, Article documents have source link TV etc etc etc
Is modx able to do that? The reason is: when i adding new document of some type in admin panel i want to see and input only his TVs.
Yes this is possible in your example you could create 3 different templates and then assign each template the appropriate TV.
But what is the problem having them all in one template ?
imagine if i hane not one or two TVs but 20-25 on one document type, and 30-35 on other...
then when i will create new document i will see all of them - that is bad...
i mean wosent it great to:
- when manager is trying to create document first of all system is asking him what type of document he want to create and then show him a form that he will fill...
- admin can manage document types add/remove fields (TV) in them
- modx uses ditto for example to show all documents using template that i want...
the major problem is to organize creating of documents...
for example i want to use next document types in my site:
1. friendly companies (logo, name, addr, tel, content)
2. sites (thumbtail, name, link, content)
3. news (image, author, source, content)
4. contacts (some kind of VCards)
if i add this TVs (logom name, image, author etc etc etc) to my site, and then will try to add the news document, modx will ask me to fill all these TVs, I want him to ask me only that TVs that have news documents type...
But in your example create a news template, article template and then when creating new documents you either choose the news template or the article template and you have of cause created associated Tvs to them. It couldn’t´t be more easy.
I can imagine that you would have 25 to 30 TVs that is overkill.
ok, i see, so if i want to use few type of documents i need a copy of my site template to each of them...
