Checking if manager/includes/config.inc.php exists and is writable: Failed!
I am using:
XP Media Center Edition 2002 SP2
Firefox 2.0
PHP version: 5.2.0
MySQL version: 4.1.21
Everything else worked! I set the file according the the README-en.txt to 666 permissions. And i renamed it from config.inc.php.blank --->> config.inc.php I tried this several times and also tried diff. permission settings like 777 for example.
Any help would be appreciated!
And there are no other failures?
Is the config.inc.php file open in anything?
No, nothing is open that is on the ftp.

For new Linux/Unix installs, please create a blank file named config.inc.php in the manager/includes/ directory with file permissions set to 777.

FTP? That doesn’t really fit with "XP Media Center Edition 2002 SP2" as your host platform.
1) Is XP what your machine is running or what your hosting provider is running?
2) If you change the permissions of the blank config.inc.php to 777, and then quit FTP and reload FTP, are the permissions still 777? I have seen some FTP setups claim to have changed permissions when they have not.
Are you using Windows as webserver? Windows-machines don’t understand chmodding. So you can’t set the 777-value.

Sorry, my machine is xp but my host is linux server and i use a third party ftp software and it set the permissions correctly and i used 666 and 777 and they dont work. My host is zendurl.com for free and that might be the probem but i doubt it.
Well, I’m not sure if it is because a config. problem. Wouldn’t I get any other errors?
It worked! I changed the Manager and Installs folder to 777 and it worked! However i got errors after it installed about directories not being open, etc. but everything said installed or OK!
