developing a front-end web interface

hi there

I am currently attempting to develop a website that will allow a lecturer to:

- moderate users i.e. delete them/ add them
- upload documents
- make comments on all student work and moderate comments
- set permissions on documents
- possibly export from word to excel

This website will allow students to:

- upload documents
- set permissions on documents
- possibly export from word to excel
- make comments on other people’s work/ articles/ documents

I also aim to have a live chat.

I have implemented the uploading, chat and some blogs however I am wondering how I might go about storing sessions for users so the users do not have to have independent pages as well as automating the process of adding, deleting and editing user profiles through the web interface.

If anybody has any suggestions or could point me in any particular direction that would be excellent.
