Hi all,
my modx website will have an English and Chinese version on the same address. Will load in English and when click on Chinese language text link in top of page it will switch to Chinese language. My question is with the main drop down menu. When I login to the online manager, my menu is made depending on what categories are published in the menu section. If people click to go to the Chinese version how do I make the menu show Chinese language characters and not English? All pages in the Chinese section use the exact same layout/pages as the English version just with different language text and names in menus.
Right now my menu call looks like this in my template:
<div id="ajaxmenu"> [[Wayfinder?startId=`0` &outerTpl=`mh.OuterTpl` &innerTpl=`mh.InnerTpl` &rowTpl=`mh.RowTpl` &innerRowTpl=`mh.InnerRowTpl` &firstClass=`first` &hereClass=``]] </div>
What’s the easiest way to make the meny function in Chinese and Englsih?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Derek

You’ll probably need two templates, or at least use a TV to assign the charset in the head of your template. Other than that, there should be no problem as long as your database is configured correctly to deal with the different character sets.
The simplest way would be to have two containers, one for the English and one for the Chinese. Have them only have as content the "FirstChildRedirect" snippet, and have the first document in each container be the home page for the language. Use a Wayfinder snippet call with &startId=`0`&level=`1` to create your language selection menu, then for each section’s main menu use &startId=[!UltimateParent!] to keep the menu inside the selected language container.
