from mambo to modx

I’ve used mambo for political group and now I want/need to update the site and was considering using Modx. I need the following modules or ideas on how to accomplish the same thing. Modules/functionality -

Links - the site has about 100 links by categories that need managed.

Photo gallery - list of photo galleries by category or year

newsletters - the are monthly newsletters that are sent to the members and displayed on line by year

calendar - calendar of events

news - these are the news articles

ads - the new site will have 3 ads per page, the user needs to manage the ads by time, ie ad displayed for a month, week, two weeks, etc

Think this is possible? is it possible to move/recode the mambo modules?

Links - should be possible with default code, you’d need to figure a clever way to list them and their categories though
Photogallery - I’d prefer Gallery2, which can be embed in MODx, but MaxiGallery might as well suit your needs, depending on what features you like or need
Newsletter - there are two snippets for that if I’m right, shouldn’t be a problem.
Calendar - can be done with Ditto, also snippet available
News - np, defautl functionality
Ads - I think there are a few ad rotators out there, it shouldn’t be too hard to combine phpMyAdsNew (or whatever its name is) with MODx, that way you’ll have all possible functionality of an adrotator
