    hi,

I can’t really seem to figure out how to make news or "blog" type articles in ModX. Just so i can submit news and the front page will display the date, who posted, etc.

I just want it simple though, the user base is turned off. I just want the admin ( me ) to publish and guests to read. And no comments enabled.

How do I do that with the NewsPublisher? Or is there something else I need to use?

    Thanks.

If you’re the only one who will be created the blog articles then it simplifies the whole process. No need to use NewsPublisher at all because you can add your articles through the MODx Manager as you would a normal page.

      1. Create a container in MODx where you are going to store your articles.
      2. Create your first article (ie. a page) in this folder and publish.
      3. Add a Ditto call to your front page, [!Ditto? &startID=`ID_Of_Folder_Goes_Here`!]

Et Voila! Then, once you have it up and running, you can always tweak your blog output on the front page using the various options in Ditto. For example, this is my blog that I got up and running over the weekend - the only difference being that I have used Friendly Alias Paths to add a bit of structure to my blog: http://www.immerse.me.uk/modx/blog.

I’ll be writing up a tutorial to go my site on how I created the blog over the next couple of days if that will help in anyway.

EDIT: And don’t forgot that you can use Jot with little or no configuration needed to add the ability for people to comment on your new blog items wink
