I have MODX 0.95 installed in the root folder, going to WWW.MYDOMAIN.com brings me to the front page.
I created another subdirectory named "mail" for roundcube but when I type "WWW.MYDOMAIN.com/mail" I’m getting my custom MODX "page not found" page.

this happens with or w/o Friendly URL enable. I just can’t get to the /mail/ folder.

    any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Did you try "WWW.MYDOMAIN.com/mail/" (added slash)?

If you have friendly urls ON in MODx, try creating a .htaccess file in mail/ and insert the following line in it:
        RewriteEngine Off

        Hope this helps.

          adding closing ’/’ doesn’t help.
the only difference is that when using closing / or the full URL "mydomain.com/mail/index.php" I see Quickedit on my error page without it’s styline, ie simple link list. see image

Zi, I tried adding to the roundcube .htaccess the entry but it didn’t help either.

Also tried disabling the site but that didn’t help and still had ’site disabled’ message when trying /mail
any ideas what can cause this?
I’m sure people here are running other tools like gallery etc. in the same folder w/o issues aren’t they? wink

(I have roundcube same version setup on another domain with no problem, but there MODx is in subdirectory and roundcube isn’t located inside MODx directory.)

I also tried installing phpbb in subdirectory but getting the same 404 not found page.

maybe someone have an idea I could try? or confirm that they didn’t have problem installing something in subdirectory of modx?

All .htaccess issues. You’ll need to run these things in isolated web spaces or you’ll need to find out what URLs used by those 3rd party products are also dependent on virtual URL’s (i.e. those that don’t have physical files or folders represented in the file system) and adjust your rewrite rules accordingly. There’s no easy solution...trial and error and experimentation are your best bet beyond mod_rewrite knowledge.

I don’t know what my server admin did but I have rouncube running OK along with MODx (I use it as webmail for my clients, my server admin installed me roundcube for all domain at once).

I thought I’ll let you know that it CAN work smiley

As he said, his roundcube is installed separately, isolated from individual virtual directories for his domains. This is how I use roundcube as well. You’ll just need to exclude a directory from the MODx rewrite rules by adding a condition like...

                    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/mail/(.*)$

So it would look like this:

                    RewriteEngine On
                    RewriteBase /
                    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
                    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
                    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/mail/(.*)$
                    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

                      muchos gracias OpenGeek,
                      now it’s working fine.
(i still have problems installing it but it’s not MODX issue any more)

                      Thanks for the help!
