hello.
Ive been successful messing around with various menus...a lot of fun.
But heres my scenario:
I have a top menu-(wayfinder) which only shows the folders (which are bascially categories in my site), great.
Im burnt out on drop down menus...so I would like to have in the Side column a list of the document links (the sublinks) for whatever current folder (category) the user is on.
Ive applied Drop Menu to my template on the side column. I have everything working on it. But, right now it of course shows
every folder...document link. (set start to 0 etc.) SO I am essentially repeating navigation....the catorgories (or folders)
The only solution I could think of at this time is to create a seperate template for each folder...then define the start doc in DropMenu in the side column. which will result in just that folder and its documents displaying.
My question is...
Is there another way?
(I like the way the documentation section is set here in the modx site...it appears to do this..How was that done?)
TY...
separate templates aren’t necessary, wayfinder defaults to the current document id for the &startid parameter. this means all you need is custom wayfinder tpl chunks and you’ll have a new "sub navigation" for each of your parent documents. Just don’t set &startid in your wayfinder snippet call on your parent page template.
sorry if this doesn’t make sense. I’m still a little new to wayfinder myself.
I’ve found that most of the build snippets are like that, extremely flexible and fairly simple, if you can find the documentation.
