Development site to launch site-remote vs. local

Hello There are some great tutorials on moving a devlopment site from local server to remote.

What Im trying to figure out is what will be the best way to do this for a site Im developing.
Should I develop the whole thing locally...and then move it
Or should I devlop on a sub folder on the existing domain...
site.com/modxdev/

(at this time I dont have any remote access to the remote DB but will try to get it)

Ultimately, which is Easier..moving from local to remote server . Or devloping in a sub path on the remote and then eventually moving it to primary?

-Any DB changes or just htc and configuring from manager?

If you develop on a subfolder of the final location, you won’t need to change the config.inc.php settings for database access. Otherwise, there isn’t much difference.

so I do need access to the db though? (via phpmyadmin)
ie: I cant do it all via the manager and an upload...(htc) though?

If you’re on the same server, you’ll use the same database, so you won’t need to do anything with the database.

that is so excellent. I cant believe how easy you all have made this...
I mean I still have a lot to learn, but wow.
