    Hi all,
this is my first post on this forum.
I managed to install everything without a problem. The MySQL database connection works fine, all the files were CHMODed correctly, and the installer didn’t point out any problems.
BUT when I navigate to index.php, i get this:

Warning: main(/public_html/index/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /public_html/index/index.php on line 126

Warning: main() [function.include]: Failed opening ’/public_html/index/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /public_html/index/index.php on line 126

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: documentparser in /public_html/index/index.php on line 127

Can anybody help me? I really want to be able to use MODx, but I can’t at the moment, I am new to PHP, so can somebody please help me?

    Thanks in advance.

      Sounds like a permissions problem...

Check the permissions on the directories

      /public_html/index/manager
      /public_html/index/manager/includes

The subdirectory "includes" will need to have permissions "r-x" for the server to be able to access the files inside it...

Thanks for your help, but at the moment, I DO have r-x permissions on both directories.
        And it doesn’t help.

That is r-x permissions for the server?

Create a file "test.php" in your top area, put some "include" statements in it and see what you can get to and what you can’t....

          <?php

          include ("/public_html/index/manager/index.php");

          ?>

should work because you KNOW that you can get to the index file...

Try running it yourself (ie type "php test.php" at the command line) and then try through the browser...

Then change to the document parser file and see what happens...

            still nothing...

i’ve even tried rwx permissions for the server. no help.
            the test.php file produces this:

Warning: main(/public_html/index/manager/index.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/random1/public_html/index/test.php on line 3

Warning: main(/public_html/index/manager/index.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /public_html/index/test.php on line 3

Warning: main() [function.include]: Failed opening ’/public_html/index/manager/index.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /public_html/index/test.php on line 3

I’ve installed many other content management systems and they all seem to work fine.

Perhaps there may be a PHP version problem? My host has PHP 4.4.4. Does MODx require PHP 5?

if you had to change a buncha permissions to get the system installed. Try removing the full install and database entries then re-installing it. I recently installed on an IIS server (first mistake) and it took me about 30 minutes te get all my permissions right. then I got the same error you’ve got. I removed everything and re-installed modx, changed my permissions before I tried to install and everything went smooth.

before you reinstall, take another look at your includes directory and make sure it’s permissions are correct.

Thanks. I re-installed everything, but it still doesn’t seem to work.

I have narrowed it down to one error (it’s the only one that’s left)

Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: documentparser in /public_html/modx-0.9.5/index.php on line 127

I have NO idea what that means...

By the way, as a suggestion, could you perhaps add MODx to the Fantastico Script Installer for cPanel, if that’s possible?
It would make everything a lot easier for me and a lot of other people who use cPanel.

EDIT:That’s a great Idea. you should post that in the http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/board,3.0.html"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">wishlist.

line127 in index.php is basically trying to access a class that’s contained in the file /manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php.

this is saying that he file is "NOT" there or that it can’t be "READ" and that’s why your getting the non-existent class error.

check your directory structure and make sure the file is there, if it’s there it almost has to be a permission issue. I don’t believe the installer would have check this files permissions.

I’m running PHP 4.3.11 so your PHP version isn’t the issue.

                      Very bizarre...

But what is this "random1" in the path name?

In fact, what is the FULL PATH from the root directory "/" to the file you are trying to read?

If you look at line 127 on index.php, you see that it tries to open the file with name

                      $base_path

                      concatenated with

                      manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php

If this full path name is correct, and there is a file there with the right permissions, then I’m stumped...

Sorry couldn’t be of more help...
