I’ve done several upgrades from MODx 0.9.2.2 to 0.9.5 without any problems.

For a new site I’ve done a new (clean) installation of MODx which is causing several problems:

MODx doesn’t show any .png graphics. I turned Captcha on, but I could’t logon anymore because the captcha words weren’t shown. I was able to turn captcha off in the database itself but that doesn’t solve the problem with the graphics.

This probably causes also a problem with the installation of MaxiGallery, because I get an error about a dropshadow .png-image, so I can’t upload any pictures.

I also want to use FCKeditor, so I’ve downloaded version 2.3.2. After installing, it seems that FCKeditor can’t get the path right to attachments such as graphics, documents etc.

Another issue I saw was that in the user configuration settings the text of the e-mails stay in English while the Dutch language was selected. In the Dutch languagefile these items are translated (I know, because I translated them). I’ve tested this on my other sites, but there also the language selection doesn’t seem to work properly. Does anyone know if this is a bug?

As you can see, a lot of problems with this installation. I know this can’t be a problem with my provider, because I have a subdomain with a MODx-installation (in it’s own database of course), which functions perfectly.

So, what can I do to get this installation work in the right way?

That text you see in the database is not taken from the language files, it is a holdover from the "old" days, and is entered into the database from the configuration admin screen.

Thank you Susan for your quick reply!

Of course this isn’t the biggest problem, but I wondered if I was doing something wrong.

Sorry I can’t help with your .png issues, but I’m sure somebody else will be along pretty soon with some ideas and suggestions.

One thing, you spoke of another MODx installation on the same server; are you sure that this installation has the GD libraries in its PHP? Check the phpinfo link in Reports -> System Info to make sure.

Well, it was a thought, anyway.

Still sounds like a GD thing.. are you sure that your main site and subsites actually run in the same server?

What? Explain better and check the paths in manager configuration settings.

It’s a bug, please post it to the bug tracker. The install puts it in the database in English by default and the settings page always retrieves it from there. There is code to use the one from language files if the setting does not exist, but it never takes the string from lang files as it always gets the default from database..

Yes. Actually subsites are placed in the same directory, in a folder called subdomains.

I checked and it’s not an issue with wrong paths. I compared the path in TinyMCE and in FCKeditor and they are both the same. The problem gets stranger when I copy the code from TinyMCE, switch to FCKeditor, and then paste the code. The image shows correctly in TinyMCE, but doesn’t show in FCKeditor. FCKeditor shows the icon you get when an image is not found. When I change the path to the url (i.e. hxxp://www.mysite.com/assets/images/image.jpg) then the image shows correctly.

I discovered another strange thing. In /assets/files there is an index.html file. In both editors, when I browse the server to this file, the icon is not shown correctly. It seems to be corrupted. Now I suspect that some files on my pc got corrupted (I did the installation serveral times from these files without any luck), so I will download the MODx installation again and install it from scratch.

I’ve downloaded MODx again and installed it from scratch. Now .png graphics are shown correctly and MaxiGallery also works fine smiley

As far as I’ve tested now, TinyMCE does not start the path from the root (i.e. assets/images/image.jpg) which works fine with this editor. FCKeditor needs to start from the root (i.e. /assets/images/image.jpg), but doesn’t add the first slash. That’s why the images can’t be found.

I like to use FCKeditor because it’s simpler, thus easier to use for clients. I think that starting from the root would work fine for both editors, but how (or where) can I correct this?

                    *edit*
I found a workaround for this. In the configuration settings, under Interface & Featers the setting for Rewrite browser paths was ’Yes’. I changed this in ’No’, which works well in both editors. Still I think using relative URLs is better or at least should work well with both editors.

Are there more users with this problem (and should I report this as a bug)?

Hi there. I checked out Rev 3840 and still get this error. When i upload a file with an german umlaut, it convert it to something strange. UTF-8 problem? That’s also because why you can’t see any files in the browser.

edit: sorry, i dont’ know why my post is in this thread but it should be -> here <-
