Just installed Modx the other day and I am confused on some things. I have been trying to read the docs and forums.

    1) In the latest version of Modx how do you make a folder? I log in and get the option to make a new document but no folder? The instructions show options for a folder but I can’t find them?
    2) I am having a hard time understanding the concept of the menu index. Can anyone explain this a little better to me? Is this part of my problem understanding folders?

    Thanks guys,

      Hi and welcome,

1/ folders are now called container (look at the tab page settings)
A document is automatically transformed in folder when it contains another document.
To do so, right click on a document in the tree => create a document here.

2/ Menu index is used to order menu items
To sort a folder use docmanager module.

Folders are no longer a completely accurate concept. They’re now referred to as containers. For an extended rationale behind the change, see http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,7721.msg54142.html#msg54142

To create a container document, either right-click an existing document and select the "Create document here" option. Alternate, just create a document, then select the second "Page Settings" tab and make sure the "Container?" checkbox is checked. That’s it.

Menu index is just a number that you can use to sort docs... nothing more.
