Username longer than 15 characters?

I tried creating a username of 18 characters, but noticed that MODx only allows 15 characters in the username. Is there any workaround for this?

The usernames I create consists of <first name>.<last name> and it seems kind of mean to truncate the last name of the poor users.

Hi,

you should have a look to line 290 in manager/actions/mutate_user.dynamic.php
and change the maxlength value.
in the same time, check out the length field in DB.

<td><input type="text" name="newusername" class="inputBox" style="width:300px" value="<?php echo htmlspecialchars($usernamedata[’username’]); ?>" onchange=’documentDirty=true;’ maxlength="15" /></td>

hope that helps

:-)

Yeah. That helped. Thanks!

But I’m curious, what’s the deal with only allowing 15 characters by default?

That’s an artifact from its origins. Slowly but surely all those will be done away with.

Is that still in 095? If so it won’t be in 0951. Ugh...

Gone in 2198. Thanks for the catch.

(now matches DB length of 100 characters)
